Crafted Hospitality + Residential Projects Around the World
Granjero y Marinero
Cuna del AlmaThe brief was simple: design a sunset bar. The ambition was harder—to create a restaurant that gave guests a view of the Atlantic sun setting all year long, without losing the warmth and intimacy that makes a meal memorable.
The site was both exposed and promising: a sloped plot facing the sea, with a farm to the south and a public road above.
A plan drawn between the farm and the ocean
We started with a strong idea in plan: two perpendicular axes. One draws a straight line from the entrance to the view. The other runs from the farm to the kitchen. These lines are felt more than seen, giving structure to the experience.
The slope allowed us to keep the building low from the road, but open and generous on the sea-facing side. A breeze block screen surrounds the entrance, offering privacy, daylight, and a natural coolness.
At night, it glows like a perforated lantern.
A place that belongs—clearly here, nowhere else
The building looks and feels at home. It doesn’t compete with the view, but helps guests enjoy it. The form is modest, but deliberate. It balances the broad drama of the sunset with the close pleasure of a shared table.
The design process stretched the whole creative team in a good way—we came to value the clarity of the core idea and the discipline it asked of us.
The project has already sparked interest from others drawn to Granjero y Marinero's quiet confidence.
